Why is “Youth Akro Skills" a great way to learn Life Skills?

Why is “Youth Akro Skills" a great way to learn Life Skills ? The United States of America’s National Education Association (NEA) knows that the best way to get students to learn and retain information is to have them being physically active and engaged while learning . “ Teaching that emphasizes active engagement helps students process and retain information. It leads to self-questioning, deeper thinking, and problem solving. Engagement strategies like repetition, trial and error, and posing questions move the brain into active and constructive learning. And such activities can lead to higher student achievement.” - National Education Association Active learning is particularly effective with material that is more abstract and subjective. Active learning also helps bridge language barriers for learners and teachers who speak different native languages from one another. When teaching Life Skills in a 7th grade classroom in Fiji, I get a lot of blank stares from my stu

Can We Heal Our Past Trauma Through Positive Focus?

Image
Someone posed a question about whether it's helpful to "re-live the past". There is a lot of focus these days on positive thinking and manifesting what we focus on. I am a firm believer in both. There is an idea, a fear, that if we allow ourselves to focus on trauma in our past, we will re-create more trauma in our present and future. This fear is based in truth. We don't want to focus on our past and create more of the same in our lives. However, many of us have experienced past traumatic events that left emotional (and sometimes physical) wounds. We can't move forward by dwelling on the trauma of the past, but our bodies have a way of storing anything that's too much to process at one time for a later time when we are better equipped. When these past traumatic events remain unprocessed within our mental, physical and emotional being, t hese unheard, unaddressed, unhealed issues lead to ugly uprisings and tension in our relationships, continuation of vi

Allies and Racism - A Thank You Note

I want to sincerely thank all of my non-black friends and allies who have offered their support during this emotionally challenging and racially-charged time in America. Many of you have posted images of truth and shared words of encouragement and I deeply appreciate you. Some of you have shared things that, if I had shared them myself, would have alienated some other white friends who honestly believe I need to "get over it already". A llies are an essential part of any movement and I am genuinely grateful for mine. Thank you for your understanding, your bravery and your love. Some people think it is racist for me or anyone who is black to draw attention to experienced racism or to even say words like "black" or "white". These people are unfamiliar with the actual dictionary definition of racism . These humans do not want their attention drawn to the overt, limiting and hurtful racism that I have experienced more days of my life than they would al

Use this short meditation for 7 days  and tell me what happens! I love meditation and I use it daily. Since I learned my first meditation technique in 1998, my meditation practices have shaped my life to be better, happier and more fulfilling. Meditation is very empowering! It helps us to overcome fears and limitations to become masters of our own lives. I teach meditation to my clients as well as closing each session with a custom guided meditation. I also enjoy working with groups to facilitate guided meditations and energy clearings.  Contact Shaun  to schedule a guided meditation with me or to inquire about my availability and rates for groups. Manifestation Mastery #1 - Clearing Negative Emotions Toward Myself

Image
In the last Manifestation Mastery Workshop , I shared the Transmute Method for clearing difficult emotions that block manifestations. Some examples are: fear, anger, blame, judgment, worry, guilt, jealousy and victim mentality. This morning as I did my meditation practice and connected deeply into my Spirit and physical body  I  became aware that I was carrying some guilt and judgement toward myself that have been preventing a fuller manifestation of my well-being. I was emotionally triggered because I ate some food yesterday that caused a congestion reaction in my body. I was carrying guilt for allowing myself to be in circumstances where I was not supporting my own health in the past. Some of you may be aware that at various times in my 40 years of life, I experienced health issues including chronic, frequent migraines, cancer and tumor scares, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, chronic fatigue and more. At those times, I used my Divine Creative Power to create guilt and judgement
